Once you switch to zero-waste laundry products for your clothes, don’t stop there. Consider making some other simple changes in your laundry room that benefit both the planet and your wallet.
1. Opt for laundry baskets and hampers made from materials like wicker or linen lining instead of plastic. Both of these materials are compostable at the end of their lifespan.
2. Choose machines that are the most water and energy-efficient. You can wash only when your laundry pile is full, doing large loads 1-2 times a week is more efficient than small, frequent loads.
3. Purchase laundry detergents with lightweight, low or no-water formulas to reduce transportation and, in turn, carbon footprints.
4. Whenever possible, air-dry your clothes. Sunlight is a powerful stain remover and is gentler on your clothes than tumble-drying, which can cause stretching, shrinking, and pilling.
5. Make your own stain removers using eco-friendly ingredients like lemon juice, bicarbonate of soda, and other non-toxic kitchen items. Then use your EMERALD FRESH for regular washing.
6. Opt for cold water washing whenever you can. Our laundry sheets work just as effectively in cold water as they do in hot water.
